In 2023, Germany remains a stronghold of meat and milk production, even though the disastrous effects have long been known: greenhouse gases, animal suffering, health risks, global injustice - the list of problems is big and the need for action is bigger. Strategies for the socio-ecological transformation of agriculture

17.–19. november 2023

In 2023, Germany remains a stronghold of meat and milk production, even though the disastrous effects have long been known: greenhouse gases, animal suffering, health risks, global injustice – the list of problems is big and the need for action is bigger. At the same time, farmers also urgently need positive prospects.

One thing is clear: animal farming must be reduced as quickly as possible. According to the Planetary Health Diet, a reduction of at least 75 percent is needed to keep within planetary boundaries. Animal rights activists are calling for complete abolition, but the German government isn’t giving this issue the necessary attention and in the public debate the topic has not yet reached the urgency it deserves.

Faba Konzepte cordially invites you to our conference “Animal numbers down, but with fairness!”, which will take place in Berlin from November 17 – 19, 2023. From Friday evening to Sunday midday, we want to discuss with 100 participants possible strategies for reducing animal numbers and enabling a social-ecological transformation towards a plant-based food system. The conference will provide representatives from science, practice, politics and civil society a platform to network and to exchange information and knowledge.

The conference will be held in German, you can find the full invitation here in German.
