Our food system needs change – beyond the individual plate. Although there is a growing social consensus that our current food system is not sustainable, the problem is still often treated as a question of individual consumption decisions. We want plant-based nutrition to be understood as a political task.
This is why we are focussing on strategic public relations work in this project. We provide information in guest articles in the national media about political measures such as:
- Programmes to phase out animal husbandry
- Shifting subsidies towards plant-based production
- Information campaigns for plant-based nutrition
- Adapting public catering (e.g. in schools)
- Tax incentives
We also explain important concepts in videos for social networks, and make it clear: changes are needed that go beyond individual consumption. We present model projects, show what is happening in other countries and discuss practical measures that are driving structural change in the food system.
Our message: A plant-based food policy benefits everyone – the environment, health, agriculture and the economy. We are not only addressing consumers, but also farmers, political and civil society actors and other multipliers.
